Ahhh, Saturday. Brew day. God willing, the weather is fine enough where you are to do a little brewing, if you’re inclined. You can visit the American Homebrewers Association for some cool info on learning to brew.
Or, you can start the way most folks do, by visiting their local home brew shop (or checking out some great online shops like Northern Brewer or Midwest), buying a “starter set” and a basic extract beer recipe, and discovering the magic.
A while back, I posted a picture of the one lonely hop cone on my Cascade vine. Well, the harvest will yield a bit more than one solitary cone. In fact, I might even have enough to “wet-hop” the whole batch (because the hops will never be dried, since I’ll pick them and they’ll go directly into the boil) and not use any additional (purchased) hops. Either way, today I’m making my first “estate hopped” ale.
